governance

The Asian University for Women (AUW) is governed by a Board of Trustees, which is currently chaired by Dr. Amit Chakma, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Western Ontario.  The initial Board of Trustees was elected by the International Support Committee of the Asian University for Women in 2009 in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of the Asian University for Women.

The Asian University for Women Support Foundation (AUWSF) was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 2002 based in the United States. The Foundation is responsible for mobilizing organizational, financial, and intellectual resources across the world to further develop the University. The Foundation is also responsible for raising and maintaining the University's endowment. The AUW Support Foundation is overseen by a Board of Directors.

In addition to the Board of Trustees of the University and the Board of Directors of the AUW Support Foundation, the University benefits from a number of advisory bodies. The AUW Council of Patrons is a group of international leaders in government, business, and academia who have formally expressed their support for the Asian University for Women. The International Council of Advisors is a group of supporters from around the world who serve as "friends of the university," assisting the University and the Support Foundation in its myriad activities, from faculty and student recruitment, to internships and mentorships, to fundraising for scholarships or other matters.
