Welcome Address
Welcome Remarks by Dr. Nancy Dye, AUW Vice Chancellor; Dr. Hoon Eng Khoo, Vice President of Academic Planning; Dr. Dil Afroze Quader, Access Academy Executive Director. Introduction of all faculty and staff members.
Computer Training
Learn about technological resources at the Academy with Mr. Clive D’Sanges. You will receive your computer user name, password, USB Flash Drive, and Student Computer Manual which contains guidelines for using computers at the Academy.
Academic Programs
Introduction to academic life at the Academy with Dr. Dil Afroze Quader: review program of study, academic calendar, and standards of performance.
Safety and Security
Information about personal safety and security at the Academy with Mr. Jamil Ahmed.
Self Defense
Learn the basics of personal self-defense from martial arts expert, Ms. Maria Chakraborty.
Residence Hall Meeting
Review of Housing Rules and Regulations by Ms. Shima Kar and Dr. Qamar Banu.
Welcoming Ceremony Meeting (Optional)
Can you sing, dance, play a musical instrument, read a poem, or tell a short story? This is an opportunity for you to present your talents to students and special guests at the Welcoming Ceremony on Saturday, April 5th. Please come to this meeting only if you would like to perform or give a presentation.

Reading Test
This is the first of a series of English and math assessment tests to determine your level at the Academy so that you can be placed in the appropriate class.

Each student will be asked to respond to questions in a 15-minute test. Please refer to the Announcement Board in the Dining Hall for your testing time. Please arrive at your assigned classroom 10-15 minutes before the test, and not sooner.
Life in Chittagong
You will join other students from your home country in a meeting with Chittagong students and community members who will describe adapting to life in Chittagong.

Independence of Bangladesh Presentation
Mr. K. M. Iqbal will speak about the general history of Bangladesh and its independence movement. An activist as a student at Dhaka University, he was a witness to the events that led to an independent Bangladesh in December 1971. Currently, Mr. Iqbal is the Marketing Director of The Consolidated Tea & Lands Co. (Bangladesh) Ltd which is responsible for the marketing of the Finlay Tea.
Life of a Lawyer and Activist
Mrs. Wahida Iqbal will speak about her experiences as a lawyer and her involvement in providing free legal aid to underprivileged women. She received her Law degree from Dhaka University. Mrs. Iqbal is the Chittagong Divisional Head of Bangladesh National Women Lawyers' Association and the 1st Vice Chairman of the Bangladesh Federation of University Women in Chittagong. Currently, she is working to establish a short-term home for women and children in need. She is the treasurer of Rotary Club of Chittagong and a life member of Chittagong Maa-O-Shishu Hospital.

Bend it Like Beckham, a comedy about bending the rules to reach your goal. The film follows two 18 year olds with their hearts set on a future in professional soccer, while juggling their parents’ expectations of finding a suitable boyfriends and cooking the perfect chapatti.

Sound of Music, a musical based on the story of the Von Trapp family set in Austria during the 1930s and the rise of Nazism. The Navy captain, Georg Von Trapp, writes to the convent asking for a governess that can handle his seven mischievous children, who sends Maria to fill the job. She is met with hostility but gradually endears herself to the children with her kindness, understanding, and joyful disposition.

The Clay Bird, a semi-autobiographical drama from Bangladeshi filmmaker Tareque Masud. A Bengali boy comes of age amidst the social and political turmoil of late 1960s East Pakistan
