Open Faculty Positions:
Psychology
The Asian University for Women invites applications for a position at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level in Psychology to begin in the 2012-13 academic year. We seek an outstanding candidate with potential for sustained interest in teaching and research.
Applicants should have a PhD or D.Psych degree from a recognised university. The candidate should have a demonstrated ability to teach courses in the area of General/Introductory Psychology; the opportunity to teach in the applicant’s specialty area is available. The successful candidate will assist faculty in developing courses in a number of possible areas, including, but not limited to psychopathology, developmental psychology, personality psychology, and cross-cultural psychology at undergraduate-level.
The minimum teaching load is two courses per semester. The candidate is expected to work with existing faculty to develop psychology as a major and a minor as part of a Liberal Arts Degree programme. For an outstanding teacher-scholar who is unable to relocate to Bangladesh permanently, we may consider a two or three-year appointment as a Visiting Appointment, starting in the 2012-13 academic year. Preference is given to fulltime faculty.

Asian Religion and Philosophy
The Asian University for Women invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Asian Religion and Philosophy, beginning in January 2012 or in September 2012. We encourage candidates who possess a broad knowledge of historical and contemporary South, Southeast and East Asian religions and religious thought, intellectual and social traditions, and philosophy. We seek an outstanding candidate with teaching and research interests in combination of software engineering and information systems, and algorithm design and analysis. The applicants should hold a PhD in Computer Science and Engineering or closely related area, a substantial record of excellence in teaching and research, and scholarly publications in referred journals. The ability to teach some interdisciplinary or specialized courses such as discrete mathematics, object oriented programming, web Languages, mobile and internet technologies and applications (Java, HTML, SQL, MySQL, PHP, ASP, JSP, etc.), hardware design, or real time systems will be an added advantage. The successful candidate will teach a combination of courses to undergraduate students majoring Computer Science. The undergraduate students majoring in different science or non-science areas are also expected to take some courses relevant to them as an elective course.

Economics
The Asian University for Women (AUW) invites applications for one and possibly two positions at the Assistant Professor level to begin in the 2012-13 academic year. We seek outstanding candidates with teaching and research interests in macroeconomics, particularly in the area of economic growth. A specialization in monetary economics or managerial economics would be an added advantage. All positions are based on one- or two-year renewable contracts.
Requirements for the positions include: Ph.D. in economics; a substantial record or promise of excellence in scholarship and teaching; the ability to teach a range of courses at the undergraduate and masters levels, including basic and intermediate macroeconomics, microeconomics, and at least two of the following applied areas: Economic Growth, Financial Economics, Econometrics, Managerial Economics, Public Finance, International Trade and Macroeconomics.

Politics and Political Theory/Philosophy (including Ethics)
The Asian University for Women (AUW) invites applications for several positions at the level of Assistant Professor in the fields of international relations, comparative politics, and political theory. We are seeking several outstanding candidates with PhDs to join our new and rapidly growing undergraduate major in Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE). All positions are based on one- or two-year renewable contracts.
In international relations, we are especially interested in those focusing on areas such as international political economy and development, international organizations, international law, and ethics and human rights.
In comparative politics, specialization is open, but those focusing on politics and development in Asia and Middle East may have an advantage.
In political theory, we are seeking candidates with teaching interests in historical and contemporary political theory, contemporary moral problems in politics, and political ethics. Such candidates may also teach Core Curriculum courses in ethics and political philosophy. Some familiarity with non-Western perspectives in these areas is an advantage.
